Jiyeon Kim-Myung (she/her) is a Korean filmmaker based in Los Angeles. She is passionate about telling diverse and inclusive stories that queer societal norms such as traditional family structures, religious practices, and life milestones. Through her work, she invites the audience to question what is taken for granted. Jiyeon often enjoys incorporating fantastical elements into her story for an extra kick of comedy and satire.

As a first-generation immigrant straddling two worlds, with all her family back in Korea, Jiyeon channels the feelings of anxiety and cultural displacement into her filmmaking. These emotions give her a nuanced perspective on marginalized communities while allowing her to explore and define her artistic identity.

Jiyeon holds an MFA in Film & TV Production with a focus on Directing from Loyola Marymount University.

Her thesis short film, Over Easy, about womanhood and abortion, has screened at numerous prestigious festivals including VC Film Fest, Vancouver Queer Film Fest, Honolulu Rainbow Film Fest, and OutSouth: Queer Film Fest. She also has produced award-winning short films like Cocoon and Attached.

Jiyeon is currently in post-production with her short film Socks, set for festival submissions in 2025.
